The Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers, the Massachusetts Association of Community Development Corporations and BACH have developed this questionnaire for the candidates for Mayor of Boston in 2013.
In Mid-July, we sent a questionnaire out to all 12 candidates. Our questions were drawn from our members, activists, residents, service providers, from all across the city reflect this understanding of community health and development.
We join together in this project because we understand that community health is more than medical care. We know that the social determinants of health have the greatest effects on the lifelong path towards health and wellness.
Effectively addressing these issues will have the largest impact on the health of Bostonians. This is particularly true for communities of color where health inequities, caused by structural racism in this country, are most evident.
We hope that by disseminating candidates’ answers to the following questions, you will be better informed about how the next Mayor thinks about these issues and what s/he plans to do to reduce health inequities and improve the health of all Bostonians. Tell us what you think on our Facebook.
