Stand Against Racism, 2014

For the second year in a row, BACH is participating in YWCA Boston’s Stand Against Racism Day. This year our focus is food justice and we are partnering with Nuestra Comunidad Development Corporation, Fresh Food Generation and Boston Day and Evening Academy.

On April 25th, from 2-4pm at Dudley Public Library, we will be screening Soul Food Junkies, a film about traditional African American food and its impact on the health of the Black community. The film will be followed by a discussion on culture, food, and how racism impacts access to healthy food in communities of color. Healthy snacks will be provided.

On May 2nd, join us at Boston Day and Evening Academy for a morning of food and fun to celebrate BDEA’s purchase of its garden lot. The day begins at 9:30 am to plant the gardens, followed by a student art project. At 11:30 there will be a Ribbon Cutting celebration with elected officials. The day will end with a BBQ featuring locally sourced food at noon. This will be rain or shine.
