Public Health Awakened is a group of public health professionals organizing for health, equity, and justice. They work with social justice movements on strategic and collective action to resist the threats faced by communities of color and low-income communities and to create a world in which everyone can thrive. Included in the work of Public Health Awakened is the guide: Public Health Actions for Immigrant Rights: A Short Guide to Protecting Undocumented Residents and Their Families for the Benefit of Public Health and All Society. This guide highlights why deportation and immigration issues are a public health and community safety problem and provides 9 actions steps for people working at local health agencies who are looking to protect and support undocumented residents and their families. The hope of this guide is that the ideas and actions resonate with people to move forward with at least some of them in health departments.
